About the Phuket Cricket Week

Welcome to the official blog of the Phuket Cricket Week

The Phuket Cricket Week is run by the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) (www.cricketsixes.com)

The ACST continues to organise superb club cricket events at fantastic locations across Asia Pacific since it was founded in 2000.

The Phuket Cricket Week comprises of the ICC Award Winning Phuket International Cricket Sixes and the Thalang International 7's (formerly known as the Kata International 7's)

The Sixes were first held in 2004, while the 7's made its first appearance in 2012. Both events have helped raise substantial sums through the kindness of its worldwide participants to assist in the next generation of Thais falling in love with the game through the Phuket Cricket Group's Junior Development Fund. The ACST would like to thank the PCG for their continued and invaluable support as the Phuket Cricket week continues to flourish.

All enquiries for anyone wishing to come along and make friendships through the game, whether as a team or individuals should contact the ACST Chairman, Michael 'Cat' Maher at mmaher.padmir@bigpond.com or by telephone on +61 407 385 481.

The Countdown to the Phuket Cricket Week Continues

There is now less than three weeks to go before the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) Phuket Cricket Week gets under way.

A minimum of twenty-two teams will be appearing, with participants gathering from across the globe for the Phuket International Cricket Week to join up with locally based Phuket sides. The Sixes, which were first competed for in 2004, will be played between Wednesday 12th and Sunday 16th April 2017. The sixth annual 7’s will follow between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd April 2017.

Both events will be played at the Alan Cooke Ground (ACG) with the 7’s being retitled the Thalang International Cricket 7’s to relate to the venues location.

Yarraleen Lions of Victoria, Australia will be looking to go one better in the Sixes after finishing as runners-up in the Cup last year, with defending champions Kuwait Eagles absent in 2017. The Sixes has attracted a strong Asian contingent looking to collect honours. The 7’s looks a wide open tournament with strong local interest sure to figure in the shake up the following week.

ACST Chairman, Michael ‘Cat’ Maher is looking forward to more “Fun in the Sun”. “Once again we have attracted a fine array of teams representing many nations. As ever it’s superb to welcome several new sides along with meeting up with many old friends. I’m sure that we’re in for another fantastic event,” said Mr. Maher.

ACST Announce Dates for 2017 Phuket Cricket Week

The Asian Cricket Sixes Tour (ACST) are proud to announce confirmed dates for the Phuket International Cricket Week in April 2017.

Teams, officials and cricket aficionados from all around the world will be heading to take part in the ICC Award winning 14th Phuket International Sixes and the newly titled 6th Thalang International 7’s. The Sixes, which were first competed for in 2004, will be played between Wednesday 12th and Sunday 16th April 2017, with Thursday 13th a designated rest day for participants to enjoy Songkran and a Beach Cricket Tournament. The sixth annual 7’s will follow between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd April 2017.

Both events will be staged at the Alan Cooke Ground (ACG) in the north of the island.

ACST Chairman, Michael ‘Cat’ Maher, is as ever, extremely positive about the event. “The resourcefulness of the ACST is one of our proudest claims. The Arinara Resort at Bangtao was extremely popular with everyone who stayed there during the 2016 Sixes, so we had no hesitation in coming to an arrangement with our old friend Seemant Raju, who manages the resort to stay there for both tournaments. I would like to pass on my sincere thanks on behalf of the ACST to all at the Kata Beach Resort and the Andaman Seaview Hotel, for all their fantastic assistance over the years wishing them every success as we continue to promote these properties moving forward.”

“The Thalang International 7’s was selected for the new title of our wonderful fun event to reflect the change of venue, as the Thalang is the former name of Phuket, and the ACG is located in the northern district of the same name.”

I would also like to thank the committees of the Alan Cooke Ground (ACG) & Phuket Cricket Group (PCG) for their continued assistance and friendships and look forward to continuing our fabulous relationship for many years to come.”

Team entries for both events are now open for what will be a superb festival of cricket and wonderful camaraderie. Don’t miss out on your chance on a dream cricketing holiday, making lifelong memories and friends.
